The S&P 500 is up 14.5% year to date as of Oct. 20 after recovering from a relatively mild pullback earlier in the year. Some investors are still wary, however, amid uncertainty related to tariffs and rocky trade relations, particularly with China; geopolitical conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East; and political pressure on the Federal Reserve and its monetary policy.

It may be a good opportunity for investors to review their portfolios to see if they have the right risk-and-return balance, and whether they’re allocated too aggressively.
